Welcome!

My name is Kat, and I've been working creatively for about 13 years. (That is, of course, not counting extensive childhood experience in finger painting and macaroni sculptures)...

As the daughter of an artist and writer, I was inspired at an early age to follow in those footsteps.  My first job was desktop publishing, and even then I freelanced as an illustrator and muralist in my teens.  Always intending to be an artist of some kind, I entered the Fine Arts program at the University of Oregon in 2000.

I completed my Bachelors in 2003 with a focus in metalsmithing and design.  While at university, I developed my aesthetic with studies in art history, design theory, philosphy, color exploration, and training in media ranging from fabrics to lithography.  During those years, I worked on my own time to apply my class studies to web design.  All of my software knowledge is self-taught, and I am constantly researching new ways to improve upon my skills and remain cutting edge.

I used to be rather ambivalent over the fact that digital art is not tactile (unless printed, of course), as a result, I pursued my metalsmithing and jewelry arts in tandem with my graphic design work.  In 2005 I joined a group of other artists and opened a gallery called Splurge Jewelry Art, LLC. which is located in NE Portland. It was a great experience for me, but I have since left the gallery, but remain a consignment artist.

My current freelance business is the focus of my creative juices.  I take pride in all of my work, and am here to bring to life any creative inkling you may be developing.
